Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton, Wisconsin, is a congregation in transition. As a congregation, Trinity celebrated 100 years of ministry in February of 2015. Just over a year later in late 2016, Trinity sold its longtime church building, and since then has been fairly nomadic.
In November 2016, Trinity began worshipping on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. at Tri-County Chapel, a local funeral home. Yes – a funeral home. Grace Lutheran Church, a fellow ELCA congregation in Appleton, became host to Trinity’s church offices, activities, meetings and mid-week worship until November 2019. At that time Trinity followed the call to return its offices to downtown Appleton at 116 N. Appleton Street. Trinity’s transition has involved several moves, lots of flexibility and lots of faith – – and is still a work in progress.
